Volunteer Opportunities

Need volunteer or community service learning hours for school?  Volunteer at the Jamestown Public Library!

Duties vary, but might include:

  • shelving books

  • helping check in/out patrons

  • general office tasks

  • program helpers

  • and more!

 

If you are interested, fill out the volunteer application below and bring it in, or stop by the library to get an application. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Young Adult Materials

Books

Young Adult Fiction (YA)
  • vary in ages from 12-18+

  • vary in genre and young adult topics

  • books selected according to the American Library Association age recommendations and other professional librarian guides.

Young Adult Nonfiction

YA nonfiction is shelved with adult nonfiction materials, as most adult nonfiction materials are also appropriate for this age group and are used for reference and homework help.  

 

eBooks & eMaterials

Many popular YA books and required school reading books are available through our eBook & eMaterials website.

Parental Guidance

Since the YA section covers those aged 12-18, and each child is at a unique developmental stage emotionally & physically, it is the responsiblity of the parent/guardian to determine what materials are appropriate for their child.   

 

If you are unsure of the materials your child has selected, please ask library staff or find more specific age recommendations at:

Audiobooks

Audiobooks are a great way for teens and adults to "read" the same stories together!

 

We have CD audiobooks available for many popular YA titles. 

 

eAudiobooks are available for on our eBooks & eMaterials website.

Free Audiobooks for teens, May through July. Two new titles each week. 

DVDs

DVDs rated G, PG, and PG-13 are available in the library.  The ratings for movies are listed on the back cover.

 

Also, we have "Family" Movies that are rated PG or under and have children as main characters or children themes.
