New Books by Popular Authors

March 28, 2018

Jamestown Public Library has been lucky recently. We have had some wonderful donations of really new books by popular authors, all published in 2017 or 2018.

Clive Cussler and Boyd Morrison wrote Typhoon Fury: a Novel of the Oregon Files, a thriller that finds Chairman Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon battling a team of super-soldiers and the storm of the century at the same time. These super-soldiers are transformed from regular civilians by a chemical developed during WWII.

Clive Cussler and Robin Burcell wrote The Romanov Ransom . This unique novel begins in 1918, when a ransom of enormous size was paid to free the Romanovs from the Bolsheviks, but the Romanovs died anyway. And the ransom? During World War II, the Nazis stole it from the Russians, and after that, it vanished. Until now. When a modern-day kidnapping captures the attention of Sam and Remi Fargo, the couple soon learn that these long-lost riches may be back in play, held in trust by the descendants of a Nazi guerrilla faction called the Werewolves. It is their mission to establish the Fourth Reich, and their time is coming soon. As the Fargos follow the trail across Europe, Northern Africa, and South America, they know only one thing. This quest is greater than anything they have ever done; it is their chance to make someone answer for unspeakable crimes, and to prevent them from happening again.

Night Moves is Jonathan Kellerman’s latest Alex Delaware novel. If you are a Kellerman fan, you know that he writes in the voice of Dr. Delaware, a brilliant psychologist who helps LAPD detective Milo Sturgis solve crimes. In this novel Alex and Milo have a dead body with no face and no hands, hindering identification, in a million dollar mansion for no apparent reason. The owners know nothing. Or do they? Dark secrets can be hidden inside wealthy homes in rich neighborhoods.

John Lescroart’s latest is Poison: a Dismas Hardy Novel. Attorney Hardy is retiring, but not quite yet. A wealthy man is murdered. The prime suspect is his bookkeeper, but delving deeper, all of the victim’s family have reasons to want him dead, too. Does Hardy have a target on his back because he is getting too close to the truth? This is a page turner that will keep you up at night.

The Man in the Crooked Hat was written by newer author Harry Dolan, but his writing is just as exciting as our old stand-bys. In his recent novel, private investigator Jack Pellum has spent two years searching for the man he believes murdered his wife. Then a local writer commits suicide, and leaves a bewildering message that may be the first breadcrumb in a winding trail of unsolved murders.

Spend April Fool’s Day reading a good thriller/mystery from Jamestown Library.
